Constituent services are an important function of my office, and my staff and I work hard to make sure that Malden residents can access the resources they need. Whether it's a problem renewing someone's health insurance or getting help with the state's Fuel Assistance vouchers, I want to make sure that government and nonprofit programs are accessible to those in need. Housing & Rental Assistance
There are different types of rental assistance in Massachusetts, the common ones include: Section 8 Voucher Program (HCVP), the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program (MRVP), and the Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP). Malden organizations can help provide legal assistance, temporary housing solutions, counseling for long-term affordable housing options, and help you apply for state assistance programs.
Unemployment Assistance
DUA oversees the unemployment insurance (UI) program, which provides temporary income assistance to eligible workers in Massachusetts. They also determines and collects employer contributions to the UI program. If you’ve lost your job or have had your hours greatly reduced, you may qualify for UI benefits.
Food Assistance
Food security remains a critical issue in Malden. Aside from SNAP/EBT benefits, there are also many local organizations and food pantries in Malden that can connect those in need to food assistance. Learn about the latest programs and resources in our community.
Medicare Savings Program (MSP)
The Medicare Savings Program (MSP) helps low-income older adults pay for their health care costs. In the FY23 budget, the legislature and Governor Baker passed my MSP Expansion bill and approved $73.2 million to expand eligibility for MSP from 165% of the federal poverty level (FPL) to 225%. More low-income seniors will be able to afford quality healthcare and receive cost relief through this expansion.

Fuel Assistance & Utilities
Known commonly as Fuel Assistance, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides eligible households with help in paying a portion of winter heating bills. The Attorney General's office and the Department of Housing and Community Development provides tips and information about fuel and energy assistance programs in Massachusetts.
Linden & Town Line Brook Flooding Issues
In recent years, my office has been working with state agencies and municipalities to address the flooding issues related to Linden and Town Line Brook culverts. We are actively pursuing different options to prevent future flooding and ensure adequate maintenance to our community's storm drain infrastructure.
